Brooklyn Avenue Block Association - Meeting Notes

To residents of Crown Heights and beyond,

Here are the April updates of the Crown Heights Community Organization;

One, There is the magazine, Crown Heights Community News.

We cover national events, such as the recent win of Susan Crawford, she got a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

We also focus on upcoming New York City elections, covering Myrie and also Khari Edwards debating Antonio Reynoso for Borough President

We have a lot of material about the struggles of unions: at Amazon, the Brooklyn Museum and Barboncino restaurant.

We are concerned about the plight of immigrants and also the doings of various organizations in Crown Heights that are helping them.

We also cover the local arts scene.

Two, We follow the activities of the Brooklyn Avenue Block Association (BABA) which is continuing its efforts to link up with other groups to increase the impact we have in making Crown Heights a better place

Three, We cover the activities of Restaurant Row at the north end of Nostrand Avenue. We have been trying to integrate this concept with that of Businesses for Books. Here are those enterprises that belong to both:

Chris Caribbean and American Restaurant, Island Ribhouse, King Tai, BKHalal, Yummy's, La Napa, Nostrand Avenue Pub, Rosalia Cafe, Love Lane, Akara House.

We would still like to recruit No. 1 Chinese Restaurant, Savvy, Uotora, Island Pops, and Cotton Bean.

That would mean fifteen bars, restaurants and cafes. Together they could do a lot to improve an area of three blocks and a side street. Together we are strong. Together we win.
